Where I am

I'm based in Colorado, working from a small, cubicle-sized room in my basement. I try to get outside for mountain air and whatever sunshine I can find.

What I’m working on

Most recently, I was Director of Software Engineering at nVoq. I’m now building small, ad-free, privacy-respecting apps under the hackerapps.com name — C2K, a Couch to 5K/10K trainer, and Jargon, an offline reader for the Jargon File. Both are live on F-Droid and Google Play for Android, and both native iOS versions are available on the App Store. See the projects page for details. This site is my outlet for things I love and lessons that might help someone else — posts, plus dedicated pages for Things I've Read and Things I've Watched (only the good stuff — there's enough negativity on the internet already).

Learning & curious pursuits

Play & well-being

Trying to avoid news and anything that isn't good for my mind or well being. My local pinball league. Its nice to hang out with other humans and play games. Evenings with minimal screen time. Actually it might be more accurate to say intentional screen time. Love family movie nights or playing Mario Kart or Mario Party with the family. Really love doing puzzles and playing tabletop games with them.

Family life

Life with my wife and two wonderful girls is equal parts chaos and wonder, and they are my top priority. They teach me so much.

Looking ahead

Supporting C2K and Jargon now that both are available on the App Store. Beyond that, the goal is self care and intentional focus.
